A School Bus Extrication Drill was held at Station 59 on Thursday May 19, 2016. This was a joint drill with Concordville, Bethel, and Chester Heights fire companies, the three fire companies covering the Garnet Valley School District as well as Riddle Hospital paramedics. This classroom and hands-on drill allowed firefighters from all three companies address the unique issues that are involved when a school bus is involved in an accident. School Buses are designed with several safety systems in place which help keep students safe in a crash but will offer challenges to rescue personnel attempting to gain entry to the passenger compartment.
