Fatal Fire in Birmingham Township

Tuesday evening at 11:12 PM Concordville Fire Company was dispatched to a reported dwelling fire in Birmingham Township. Additional information upgraded the incident to a working building fire with entrapment. Rescue 59 arrived to find a working fire in the rear of the structure with heavy smoke and heat on the first floor. Ladder 25, Longwood Fire Company arrived directly behind the Rescue split their crew into two teams and initiated a primary search with the interior team while the second team acted as the outside vent team laddered the building. The crew from Rescue 59 initiated fire suppression. Because this section of Chester County has minimal fire hydrants Company 59 was assisted by Longwood Fire Company, Fame Fire Company and the Chester County Tanker alarm. The fire department was also assisted by the Chester County Coroner's Office. The fire is under investigation by the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal Unit, The Birmingham Township Police and the Chester County Fire Marshal's Office.
