On arrival 59-2 laid a 5 inch supply line due to the initial report by medic 597A who arrived first and found a third floor balcony on fire with heavy smoke. Crews utilized a 1 3/4 inch hand line to extinguish the fire from the exterior while a second crew made entry into the apartment involved. The fire was contained to the deck with slight extension to the structural walls adjacent to the balcony. the crews were on location for over two hours to insure there was no additional extension to the building.
