Christmas evening Concordville Fire Company was dispatched to a reported dwelling fire involving a deck in Thornbury Township. Along with Concordville Fire Company, Chester Heights , Rocky Run Fire Company, and Media Fire Company for the RIT ( rapid intervention team, for firefighter safety) were also dispatched to assist Concordville. MICU 59 returning from an EMS call arrived first and reported a working deck fire. Engine 592 arrived and laid 200 ft of 5 inch supply hose from the hydrant located a short distance away. The crew from 592 placed an inch 3/4 hand line in service to extinguish the fire. The homeowners son had kept a garden hose on the fire until the firefighters could arrive this helped keep the damage to a minimum. The Fire was brought under control within 20 minutes, crews remained on location for a period of time for overhaul and to insure there were no hot spots remaining. The incident was turned over to the Thornbury Fire Marshal for the investigation. There were no injures, the crews were on location for 2 hours.
