What was left of Hurricane Ida made its was through our area on Wednesday September 1st and into Thursday September 2nd. Thankfully a majority of our local was left undamaged by it’s rain and wind. Company 59 was staffed with multiple crews during the storm and responded to several different types of emergencies.
Throughout the day the Brandywine River began to rise and eventually rose to a level never before seen and in the process did a significant amount of damage. Boats from Longwood, Fame and Manoa responded to help rescue local residents throughout the area who had become trapped by the record level flood waters. Thankfully and most importantly, none of the residents or rescuers were injured.
Our thoughts are with those whose homes and businesses were damaged by Ida.
