Motor Vehicle Accident with below grade rescue

Shortly before 3pm the Company was dispatched to the 1700 block of Wilmington West Chester Pike for a motor vehicle accident with entrapment. 597A, Rescue 59 and 597 responded with fire board advising the vehicle had left the roadway and was about 50 feet below grade. 597A arrived and confirmed the report of the vehicle being below grade, but advised the subject was not trapped. The vehicle had traveled thru a parking lot and was now in a wooded valley area. Rescue 59 arrived and began to deploy equipment and access the situation. 593 arrived and its manpower assisted. Crews used ground ladders and ropes to climb down the hill side to the patient. The patient was placed in a stokes basket to bring up from the scene to the parking lot. Patient was transported to a local hospital to be checkout. All 59 units were clear the scene shortly before 5:30 after standing by while the tow service removed the vehicle.
